    Dr. Courtney Orzel
    Associate Director for Professional Development, Illinois Association of School Administrators

    Dr. Courtney Orzel is the Associate Director for Professional Development for the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) and has held positions as a superintendent, middle school principal, assistant principal, and teacher. Dr. Orzel has been honored with national recognition from AASA as a finalist for the Women in Leadership Award and leads the IASA SuperWomen initiative in Illinois. She was named IASA’s South Cook Superintendent of Distinction in 2020 and currently leads workshops, keynotes, and administrators’ academies reaching thousands of educators across the country and is the co-host of the popular education podcast, Unsupervised Leadership.

    Dr. Jose Dotres
    Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools

    Dr. Jose L. Dotres is the Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), the third-largest school district in the nation with over 40,000 employees and 330,000 students.

    At the age of five, he arrived in Miami, Florida – an immigrant boy from humble beginnings who enrolled in M-DCPS as an English Language Learner, graduated from high school, and began a long and rewarding career serving students, parents, employees, and the larger school community within the system that welcomed him as a child.

    Having held multiple instructional and administrative leadership roles over the course of his career in M-DCPS and other educational organizations, Dr. Dotres is a proven educator with a wealth of experience. He has served in the capacity of Teacher, Reading Coach, Principal, District Administrator, Regional Administrative Director, Region Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer of Broward County Public Schools, Chief of Staff, Chief Human Capital Officer, and most recently, Deputy Superintendent of Collier County Public Schools.

    Teaching the whole child and ensuring optimal conditions for teaching and learning are at the forefront of his decision-making and serve as his guiding philosophy. He is a strategic thinker, visionary leader, and innovator with a strong commitment to building the leadership capacity of others. His inclusive management style inspires and empowers others to reach their maximum potential. Throughout his long-standing career as a district leader and educational advocate, he established signature programs centered on teacher leadership, teacher and leader effectiveness, and cultivating the teaching profession from within the organization. A champion of professional learning, Dr. Dotres strongly believes in providing professional growth and career opportunities for the entire workforce. He envisions positioning M-DCPS as a school district of choice for students and parents, and an employer of choice for the community.

    On the national level, Dr. Dotres has made significant contributions to organizations such as the Council of the Great City Schools. Additionally, he is the co-author of several educational publications and has presented to the Florida Senate’s Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Florida House of Representatives’ PreK-12 Quality Subcommittee on Education on topics related to teacher recruitment and retention and early literacy interventions. In 2013, he was inducted into the Miami Dade College Alumni Hall of Fame. Dr. Dotres holds a doctorate degree in Leadership and Innovation from St. Thomas University, an educational specialist degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Miami, a master’s degree in Reading from Barry University, and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Florida International University.

  • Dr. Michael Conner
    Dr. Michael Conner
    CEO/Founder, Agile Evolutionary Group

    Michael Conner, Ed.D., is the CEO/Founder of the Agile Evolutionary Group. Dr. Conner also served as Superintendent of Schools, Chief Academic Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Principal, Literacy Curriculum Specialist, and fourth-grade teacher. He is the creator and architect of the Disruptive Effect Model (Anchors of Innovation Science and Disruptive Excellence Framework). His book entitled, Intentional, Bold, and Unapologetic: A Guide to Transforming Schools in the AC-Stage of Education was released in December 2022.

    Dr. Conner obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education/ Humanities from Lasell University. He also received his Master of Science Degree from the University of Bridgeport, a Sixth Year Diploma from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Doctorate in Education from Cambridge College. Dr. Conner completed the Executive Leadership Program at the University of Connecticut, the Harvard Superintendents Institute, and the prestigious AASA/Howard University National Urban Superintendents Academy in Washington, D.C. Dr. Conner obtained his Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics from Harvard University and an Advanced Certificate in Management, Innovation, and Technology from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

  • Dr. Neil Gupta
    Dr. Neil Gupta
    Superintendent, Oakwood City Schools

    After graduating from Miami University (Ohio), Neil Gupta began his teaching career at Ashland High School, Ohio. While teaching math, he obtained a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and then earned a doctoral degree from Educational Leadership from Ashland University. While in Ashland City Schools, Gupta worked as an Assistant Principal and the Director of Secondary Curriculum.

    Neil continued his leadership journey as the Director of Teaching and Learning at New Albany School District and later the Director of Assessment and Programming.

    Currently, Dr. Gupta serves as the Director of Secondary Education for Worthington Schools. He is fortunate to serve in a district with a vision and focus “to empower a community of learners who change the world”.

    Neil has presented at the state, national, and international level in the areas of leadership, assessments, and coaching. Dr. Gupta has a passion for administrative leadership, coaching teams, and working with teams using effective strategies and tools, such as design thinking and organizational management for positive change. He is an Associate with Creative Leadership Solutions.

    Dr. Gupta believes in giving back to his community and colleagues. Neil served on the Board of Directors for ASCD and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Ashland University and is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Worthington Resource Pantry. Gupta is a member of ASCD, National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators.

    Neil resides in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife and two boys. He enjoys reading, writing, playing Pickleball, and traveling.
